Overview

This course will cover all aspects of the FFT Aspire system from setting targets for current cohorts to analysing previous years’ performance.

About The Course

Delegates will find out about setting an appropriate level of challenge and exporting targets for tracking systems, the difference between VA and CVA, using the various dashboards and understanding performance indicators, how to access contextual and prior attainment data for recently arrived pupils, and how to use filters to make like-for-like comparisons. We will also discuss presenting data for governors

About the Programme Leader

James Pembroke has 14 years’ experience working as a data analyst and advisor in education. He spent 6 years in the Post-16 sector with the Learning & Skills Council followed by 5 years in the school improvement team at Gloucestershire County Council. He turned freelance in 2014 and now works with schools across the country, helping them make sense of their data. He speaks fluent RAISEonline, is an accredited FFT consultant, runs workshops, provides training and support, and advises companies developing tracking and analysis tools for the education market.

The field of assessment and accountability in schools is constantly changing. James keeps up to date with developments and is a regular contributor to the debate via his School Data Updates twitter feed (@jpembroke). He writes a monthly ‘Data Doctor’ column in the TES and regularly blogs on a wide range of important, data-related topics (sigplus.blogspot.co.uk). James has a BSc and PhD in Geology but now prefers people to rocks.
